The NEW TRUCK will soon arrive!
Our main pumper truck was already well-used when we bought it in upstate New York. It has a bad habit of stalling in the most inconvenient places. Other things on it are giving way, making it difficult to pass certification. It has served us for several years, but was becoming very costly to maintain.
Last December, US Congressman Jerry Costello announced a $180,500 grant to the Dongola Fire Department, through the US Department of Homeland Security.
The new truck should arrive in OCTOBER. THANKS, Congressman Costello, for your help!

Dongola
We're a quiet little town, sometimes. When we have things happen, they sometimes happen in a big way. We were in the path of the 2002 killer tornadoes. We lost a restaurant in 2006 to fire. Fires have hit town in past decades in a big way. The main rail line between Chicago and New Orleans splits our town, and we've dealt with train wrecks, and evacuations.

The Cache River Wetlands - a joint state-federal project - is just south of us. I-57 is at the edge of town. Interstates 24 and 55 are near.
And it's likely within a decade or so that I-66 will connect Paducah and Metropolis with I-57 near Ullin, with a link to the new Cape Girardeau river bridge, perhaps even closer than Ullin. The nearness of a major railroad, an interstate (or two, in the future), possibility of storms and earthquakes, means we need to be ready to serve you. We take pride in the responsibility you have given us.
